“…only a necessary amount of visits--no pressure to come for weeks and weeks if things were improving…” Deborah Ferguson · Woodinville, Google review

Dr. Penner is great! He is not one of “those” chiropractors who tell you that you need to come in for “x” amount of sessions in order to solve your problem, which to me always feels like a scam. He does adjustments and let’s you decide if you need to come back. I’ve been seeing him for years, but can go months without needing an adjustment after even just one visit sometimes. Highly recommend!
Lori Wilbur · SoundCare Magnolia
I’ve seen Dr. Penner off and on for years now and have always been given good information and received the appropriate treatment that involved only a necessary amount of visits–no pressure to come for weeks and weeks if things were improving; which they always did. Dr. Penner has a calm and friendly manner and is a great communicator.
Deborah Ferguson · Woodinville
I’ve been seeing Dr. Penner for chiropractic care for years and I can’t recommend him highly enough. He has an incredible ability to quickly detect problem areas and address them with precision and skill. His adjustments are smooth, effective, and provide immediate relief. You can tell he has years of experience and truly understands the body’s mechanics. Not only is he highly skilled, but he also takes the time to listen and explain everything clearly.

Back & Neck Pain
Most back and neck pain is a movement problem first: a joint stops moving, and the muscles around it tighten to guard it. Dr. Penner treats both in the same visit, with an adjustment for the joint and hands-on soft-tissue work for the muscle, then gives you a few simple exercises for home. In most cases treatment starts on your first visit. More on back and neck pain treatment in Woodinville.

Headaches
Headaches that start in the neck tend to sit at the back of the head or behind the eyes, and they often get worse through the day. Those often respond well to hands-on treatment of the upper neck. Migraine and cluster headaches are a different conversation, and a sudden, severe headache is a reason to seek urgent care, not to book a chiropractor. How to tell which kind you have: headaches related to neck tension.

Sports & Overuse Injuries
The ache that shows up at mile four usually starts somewhere other than where it hurts. Dr. Penner, a runner himself, looks at how you move, treats the joint that stopped doing its share, and gives you the loading exercises that keep it from coming back. Shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, elbows and wrists included. On training, the answer is usually modify, not stop. More on sports and overuse injury treatment.

Auto Accident Injuries
Neck pain, stiffness and headaches after a crash often arrive a day or two later, once the adrenaline wears off. Get examined early, even if you feel fine, so what was injured is on record while the picture is clear. No referral is needed, and we bill your auto insurance directly. What to do first is on the car accident injury care page.

PIP & Auto Insurance
If you were hurt in a car accident in Washington, there is a good chance your own auto policy covers your chiropractic care through Personal Injury Protection (PIP). PIP is no-fault, so it pays regardless of who caused the crash, and it is on your policy unless you declined it in writing. We will check your benefits and bill PIP directly. Read how PIP works in Washington, in plain language.

Spinal Rehabilitation
Treatment gets you out of pain. Rehabilitation keeps you out. Here it means two or three specific movements chosen from your exam, done briefly most days, plus one change to how you sit, lift or sleep. It is what you get instead of standing appointments, and it is the reason care here is allowed to end. More on spinal rehabilitation.
Treatment designed to get you better — not keep you coming back
SoundCare Chiropractic in Woodinville does not sell prepaid treatment plans or visit packages. Dr. Joshua Penner, DC, examines you, tells you how many visits he expects after the exam, and in most cases treats you the same day. You pay for each visit you have. Most people are done in a handful of visits.
Hands-on chiropractic care that addresses both the joints and the muscles contributing to pain and restricted movement. Adjustments restore movement to stiff or irritated joints, while soft-tissue treatment relaxes tight, painful muscles. Addressing both often helps patients feel and move better more quickly, with simple home exercises added when appropriate.
The usual chiropractic office
- Twenty-four to forty-eight visits, decided in the first hour
- A second appointment to review results before anything is treated
- A prepaid package, discounted if you pay up front
- Care ends when the visits run out
- Then “maintenance” visits, indefinitely
With Dr. Penner
Two days a week. Dr. Penner treats in Woodinville on Mondays and Fridays — that is the whole schedule, and it is why none of the above is a promise you have to take on faith. A thirty-six-visit plan does not fit into two days a week. The practice cannot run on repeat visits, so it runs on the other thing.

Get examined and treated
We talk about what is bothering you, examine the area, and explain what we think is causing it. In most cases treatment begins on your first visit.

Leave knowing what is next
You will understand what is going on, what to do at home, and how many visits he thinks it takes. You hear that number after the exam, because before the exam it would be a guess. Most people are done in a handful of visits.
